Week 7 Review

" The beautiful part of wiring is that you don't have to get it right the first time, unlike, say a brain surgeon" - Robert Cormier. This quote was my favorite part of this week's announcement because it is so true. We always get to revise and edit our writings to make it close to perfect.  We can learn from mistakes and take in others feedback and make our writing better and improve. Week 7, Famous Last Words

Reading this week hasn’t been as productive. I missed one of the reading diaries for this week, and had to skim through the readings. Next week I am planning on reading everything ahead. So this will not happen again. I have finished a lot of extra credit this week. I am planning on doing some more extra credits for next week if I end up finishing this week’s assignment early. It seems like I might be able to get done with this week’s assignments early. Only class that actually required writing is this class, so my best writing is indeed in this class. I am wanting to improve my writing skills, for that I realized doing my writing last minute will not help, I will have to start my writing early and go back,  re- read and edit it at least two times. I have read other people’s story telling this and last week. It is very interesting to read everyone’s stories because each person has a different writing style and one can learn and get new ideas by reading other’s writings. One of my favorite is reading the storytelling of my classmate/ friend Davis. He adds a lot of inside jokes and relate the stories to his friends (he sometimes even includes their name).             Since I missed class on Friday and Monday in order to go to New York, I was behind on a lot of school work, so I am finally catching up on those. I just took two exams just this week. One on Tuesday and other one was Wednesday. My exam on Wednesday was really hard. For next exam, I plan on studying at least three weeks ahead. It was that hard. Only work I have left for this week is project feedback, project and blog comments.

Week 7, Growth Mindset

For the last couple of days, I have been waking up early and sleeping very late. It has been helping me to catch up with the loads of home works I have. However, I am starting to feel sleep deprived. My eyes hurt from lack of sleep and I am feeling tired all the time. Since I caught up with a lot of important school works, I can catch up on sleeping. What I am planning on doing is get up early in the morning by 6 and go to sleep by 10. Hopefully by doing this I will still have time left to finish up my works. So there is a slight progress in my challenge, however I just have to be more efficient about it.

Time is precious!

Week 7: Curation

This week my curation is going to be about Vikram and Vetal.
I absolutely loved this movie about Vikram and Vetal on youtube. Only draw back about this movie is that it is in Hindi! I understand a little bit of Hindi, so it was a little hard to follow through. However, the animation helped in understanding the material.A plus point about this movie is that it is very short.

The next discovery I have found is some more videos of Vikram and Vethal! I found these videos in pinterest. Click here to access the videos

I have also found a story book about this topic online which contains four stories. Click here to access the stories

Week 7; Tech Tip Theme

I am not very familiar with google sites. These tech tips are very useful when it comes to getting familiarized with the google sites. For this week's tech tip, I decided to change the theme of my google sites page. For that I went to More actions- manage sites- select themes-colors - fonts. After that I just messed around with the colors and changed couple of color in my pre-exisiting theme.

Week 7, Story telling: Gandharva

Gautham was well known gandharva among the gods and humans. He was humble and his talent for singing was extraordinary. When Gautham starts singing, both earth and heaven sinks in to his beautiful voice. Gautham has come of age and his parents were trying to find a suitable apsara for him. He received many proposals from suitable apsaras. Someone of them were even beautiful as the lotus and had a voice of nightingale. However, he did not find anyone suitable for him, he felt like all of them was missing something.
By the days go by, his parents started getting impatient with him. Finally his father decided to speak with him about their concern.
Gautham’s father – Son, many suitors came and showed interest in you, you rejected everyone! Don’t you realize that you are getting older and older, your mother and I would like to see you get married before we close our eyes.
Gautham- Father, I understand your concerns. However, I hope you do understand that I cannot make anyone my life partner without feeling a connection towards them. I have always been obedient towards you and mother and followed every word you have spoken to me. Please give me some more time to make a decision.
Gautham’s father- Of course son, but do consider your parents too. We are getting older and we do not have much time on heaven.
Gautham – yes father.
Gautham walked away feeling pressured to make a decision about his life partner. He decided to go for a walk in the forest to clear his mind and hoping that he will be able to narrow down his options of the proposals.
Gautham was deep in his thoughts when he accidently bumped in to a maiden. They both apologized to each other and walked away. Gautham started walking through the forest. He could not think about anything else except how beautiful the maiden’s eyes were. There is nothing special about her, however the way she looked at him drew him towards her. The next day Gautham waited in the same path hoping that she would pass by. For Gautham’s luck she passed through the same path. He stopped her and introduced himself and she introduced herself. Her name was Meena, she lives in the nearby village and comes to the forest every day to feed her cattle.  Gautham started becoming an everyday visitor and gave Meena company while the cattle went on to enjoy the tender grass in the forest. Slowly they fell in love. Finally, Gautham decided to inform his parents about his love.
Gautham – Father, Mother, I found someone and would like to get married to her with your blessings.
Gautham’s father- We are so pleased to hear than son. Whom did you pick from the proposals?
Gautham – Her name is Meena and she is a human who lives in the village next to the forest.
Both his parents were furious to hear this
With ranging anger his mother spoke, “We wanted you to get married to an apsara, not a mere human girl. She is an ordinary girl, not even a princess. We will not give you our blessings if you proceed with this”.
After many arguments and reasoning, his parents finally decided to meet Meena. When they met her they were impressed by her intelligence. They were pleased to see that meena was well mannered and humble. They agreed to give blessings for their marriage.

Author’s note
While I was reading the reading Diary, I came across vocabs gandharvas and apsaras. I had to click in the link provided and it took me to the Wikipedia page and I was fascinated by them. So I had to write a story about Gandharva. Since I am a big junkie for love stories, I had to turn this in to a love story.

Week 7, Reading Diary A: PDE Mahabharata

Growing up I used to hear a lot about Kurushetra War. It was supposed to be one of the epic wars that happened in India during Krishna's time. This week's reading mainly covered that. I am interested in writing a storytelling about this topic. During Rama and his brother's exile in forest Krishna visited them. During his visit he comforted Draupathi. Even though Arjuna is the son of Indra, Shiva will offer his hands in helping them. As mentioned above, Kurushetra war was one of the biggest wars and this war occurred between family, cousins were fight against their own blood.
