For this week's Tech Tip, I decided to make a You Tube Playlist. It was very easy to do. I always use youtube to find videos that will help me with school, including this class. For this class, I have found many videos about Vikram and Vetal on youtube. However, I never thought about making a playlist.
Here is a link to some of my favorite songs.

Week 13: Growth Mindset

Finals week is coming. It is going to so stressful. Usually, during finals week, I get stressed really easily and end up not able to study. I have a slight exam anxiety, which makes it even worse. So for this finals week, I am planning on trying a different approach. I am going to start studying for finals this week and hopefully try to finish all the materials by the end of this week, so I won’t have to stress much. One main thing that I want to do is get enough sleep. I think what makes me do poor on exams is lack of sleep and my test anxiety.

Week 13: Reading Feedback

I chose the specific reading section because I was doing my project over the same topic. The reading that I am did was Twenty – Two Goblins. It was a translation of Vikram and Vethal from Sanskrit to English. I really enjoyed reading this for my reading diaries and storybook. The part about the clever friend of the prince who got the prince and the princess get married, was one of my favorite stories. I usually read a big chunk at a time so I spent about 30 minutes to an hour for each reading. I usually do my reading at work in bizzell library, next to the computer lab. I used the free online version because it helped me have an access to the reading at any time I want.

Week 13: Review

What caught my attention from the announcement is the proverb – he that hunts two hairs will catch neither. Why I chose this is because I have a tendency to do that. I try to do two things at once, sometimes even more than two things at once and end up not able to finish all my works. I learned a valuable lesson to do one thing at a time, that way I will be able to at least finish what I am working on.

Week 13: Growth Mindset

For this week’s growth Mindset, I am planning on trying to get ahead in my evolution and molecular biology class. By the end of week thirteen, I will have enough points to make an A in Epics of India class. SO my goal is to also get ahead in other classes, so I won’t have to stress out during dead week and finals week. So my plan first is to finish all the assignment as much as I can in all classes by the end of this week. This way, I will have more room for studying, instead of focusing on completing assignments. So a big chunk of my studies will be over.

Study ahead

Week13, Reading Diary B

For this week's Reading Diary, I did 18th Goblin through conclusion from Twenty- Two Goblins. I was very happy with the ending of the story. When I started reading about the monk, I did feel like there was something not right about him. I really liked the Goblin and I am glad that he got to come back in to life. In addition, I am happy the evil monk finally got what he deserved.

Week 12: Growth mindset

Week 12, Review

The announcement that caught my attention is the announcement for Diwali Night. This was an event that I participated. It was so stressful being in the committee and organizing such a big event and choreographing the dance and dancing. However, when it was over it felt amazing. It was so much fun overall.

Week 13, Storytelling: Vikram

Budhi said “I am going to tell you about the great king Vikram. He was the king of Ujjain, India. He was famous for his intelligence, humbleness, generosity and virtue. He was loved among all his subjects. He went beyond and above to help any subjects who were in need. Ujjain kingdom had never seen a glorious king like Vikram.”

Shena asked “What did he look like Budhi?”

“Little girl, I have mentioned before not to interrupt me! I will let it go this time. However, if you do this one more time, you can go on your own way and never come back. Do you understand?"

“I am sorry Budhi, I will not repeat this mistake again. Please continue.”

“Okay, I shall answer your question as well. He looked as radiant as the sun, tall and handsome. Women fell in love with his beauty and intelligence. When they heard his voice, they willingly gave their heart to him. One day, a monk went to Vikram’s palace and asked for a place to stay. Vikram made sure that the monk had more than what he needed to have a good stay at his palace. The monk gave Vikram a fruit every day in return for letting the monk stay in his palace. Vikram gave these fruits to the treasurer. One day, instead of the treasurer Vikram gave the fruit to a monkey. When the monkey split open the fruit, a precious gem was spotted. Vikram called upon the treasurer and asked him what he did with the fruit and the treasurer replied by saying that he threw the fruits away. He humbly told the king that he could go look for the thrown away fruits and collect the gems. When the gems were presented to Vikram, He gave all the gems to the treasurer. Vikram then sent out a guard to fetch the monk. When the monk came in, he asked him why he was presenting him with such precious gems. The monk replied by saying that he wanted a favor and only someone as brave as Vikram was able to carry out such a favor. Without thinking, Vikram agreed to do the monk a favor. The monk asked Vikram to meet him at the forest next to the graveyard on the next full moon. The monk warned him that no one else could know about the arrangement between them. Vikram nodded his head as in agreement to what the monk said.  On the day of the full moon, Vikram dressed in camouflage and sneaked out of the palace. After a long walk, he finally met up with the monk in the graveyard. The monk seemed so happy to see the king and told him what the favor was. He wanted Vikram to go deeper inside the forest to go fetch a dead body, which was hanging from a tree. Without saying any word, the brave Vikram took off to find the dead body. After a long walk, Vikram found a sissoo tree that the monk mentioned. He noticed a dead body hanging from the tree. He soon realized that a goblin lived inside the body.”

Author’s Note
This story is based on the Story Twenty-Two Goblins written by Ryder. Twenty – Two Goblins are translation of Vikram and Vethal stories, which was written originally in Sanskrit. I made the talking tree the narrator of the story. In addition to that change, I have also used the real name of the character which was in Sanskrit than the English translation.

Week 13, Reading Diary A: Twenty- Two Goblins

For this week’s reading, I did 15th, 16th and 17th goblins. I found the 16th goblin very interesting and is going to write up the storytelling post based on the 16th goblin. The story is based in a city named Golden City which is located in the banks of Ganges. The king of the golden city sent out few Brahmins to inquire about a girl who has potential to marry him. However, seeing her loveliness, the Brahmins were afraid that if the king married her, the king will be focused on her and did not report the truth to the king. Later on, the king saw the maiden and fell in love and realize that the Brahmins lied to him.

Week 12, Reading Diary B: Twenty- Two Goblins.

For this reading diary, I read 12th, 13th and 14th goblin. I enjoy reading these because they are wonderful stories. The 12th goblin is about A Brahmin who lost his wife. His wife was kidnapped at night while they both were sleeping. To find his wife, he went on a pilgrimage and were poisoned while eating food. The 13th goblin was about a girl named pearl who was the daughter of a merchant. When it was time for her marriage, her father tried to find a husband for her. However, she even rejected the kings who wanted to marry her. Finally she fell in love with a thief who was about to be executed. The 14th goblin talked about  princess who was married secretly and then married to a man with her father’s permission.

Week 11, Review

From this week's announcement, I picked this one because this is a motivational quote that I could really use. I try and sometimes give up because I havent gotten where I am at. This quote motivated me to keep trying and sometimes when I fail overall, it puts me down.... But this shows that I have learned something from what I have done even though I wasn't successful.

Try until you win

Week 11, Growth Mind Set

I have been sleeping on time, but waking up late. I think I got used to sleeping a lot now. Maybe it is because I have been dancing a lot and my body needs more rest. I have been up to date with this class and is catching up with other class too. So the challenge for this week is to perfect dance so our group can perform a well-coordinated dance at the Diwali event.

Week 12: Reading Diary

For this week’s reading, I did the readings from Twenty- Two Goblins. The first story I read was eight goblin, the Specialist in food, specialist in women, and the specialist in Cotton, which is the cleverest. I felt bad for their dad because these three suns didn’t bring back a turtle to finish up their dad’s sacrifice. The next story I read was the Ninth Goblin. I enjoyed reading this story. This story is about four men of sciences seeking the hands of the princess in marriage. One of them were a cloth weaver, farmer, swordsmen and a Brahmin. The princess were given to the swordsmen.  The tenth goblin is about a king and his three wives. The eleventh goblin was a story about the king and his counselor who ended up having to take up on the duties of the king because the king devoted him selves to pleasure.

Week 10, Review

Today, what caught my attention is the proverb “Don’t count on your chickens before they are hatched.” Why it caught, my attention is because I do this a lot. For example in this class, I count my points out the week before and  think to myself that if I don’t do this particular project, I will be fine, However sometimes I end up getting so busy and don’t even finish most of the assignments and lose all the points for these assignments. If I had done, the ones that I did not want to do when I had the time, I would have at least gotten that much more points and I would have been close to being done with this class.

Week 10: Reading Feed Back

I picked to read Twenty- Two Goblins. I originally picked Amar Chitra Katha, however changed to Twenty- Two Goblin because it was related to my storybook. I enjoy reading the reading diaries, because it is laid out in a way that it is clear what you are supposed to read for each week’s readings. However, What I don’t like is the names in these readings, they sounded so unreal. However, I like the reading over all. To do my reading diary A and B, it takes about less than 2 hours.

Week 11, Story telling: Vikram

“I am going to tell you about the great king Vikramaditya, also known as Vikram.”  Said Budhi. “He was the king of Ujjain, India. He was famous for his intelligence, humbleness, generosity and virtue. He was loved among all his subjects. He goes beyond and above to help any subjects who are in need. Ujjain kingdom have never seen a glorious king like Vikram.”

“ I am sorry Budhi, I will not repeat this mistake again, please continue.” Shena uttered with fear.
“ Okay, I shall answer your question as well. He looked as radiant as the sun, tall and handsome. Women, upon looking at him fell in love with his beauty. Author’s note
I have not added anything to the story; I pretty much said the story as it is. I feel like I need to polish my story more since it lacks many details. I based this story off Twenty – Two Goblins. I am planning on going back and adding more details to this story.
